A childhood friend from the middle of the USA texted me and asked if I need a passport when boating near the Canadian Border. My Response: If you accidentally cross the border going through the middle of the Strait of Juan De Fuca, you just tell the Canadian Navy that you are the great-great-great-great-great-great-notsogreat grandson of Juan and his 16th wife's housemaid. Trudeau will still paddle out to slap you thrice upon the cheek and nose with a sea salt-soaked paper mask that doesn't hurt much because it's soggy and falling apart before the first soft-wristed slap.
You can't, however, cross to the Canadian water and come back over to the United States side of the imaginary line in the sea; you have to boat down to Mexico where Border Agents will provide a fun horse ride and then a let you sleep soundly in the dark during your free, chartered, nighttime air travel to anywhere in the USA for any Washington State Boater or anyone else who also doesn't have a passport on them.
